Mexico’s Andrea Meza Crowned Miss Universe 2021

Sunday night marked the Miss Universe competition's return to television, after the pageant was cancelled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Miss Mexico Andrea Meza has been crowned as the 69th Miss Universe. The event took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Hollywood in Florida. She was crowned by Former Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa.
Dressed in a sparkling red evening gown, Meza tearfully walked the catwalk as Miss Universe for the first time, before going back for a group hug with the other competitors.

The second and third spots are held by Miss Brazil Julia Gama, and Miss Peru Janick Maceta. The pageant was hosted by Access Hollywood’s Mario Lopez and actor and model Olivia Culpo, the 2012 Miss Universe.
In the final round Miss Mexico was asked to tell how she would have handled the Covid-19 pandemic: she said:
