Make Natural Colors at Home for Holi

The best way to celebrate Holi is by switching to natural and herbal colors which do not pose harm to your health. Initially, Holi was celebrated using home-made, chemical-free dry colors before the industries took over and wide-scale manufacturing of packaged colors started.
The chemical-based colors available in markets can cause allergy in people and in the worst-case scenario, skin cancer as well. Here are some easy ways to make natural colors at home free from harmful chemicals
Red Gulaal
Collect hibiscus flowers and dry them up. Grind them into a fine mix after they are crisp. Add red sandalwood to make it look brighter and rice flour to increase the volume.Yellow Gulaal
Use turmeric and gram flour and mix them in a 1:2 ratio to make yellow Gulaal. You can also add dried flowers like Marigold to increase the volume.Green Gulaal
Use Mehndi powder to make green Gulaal. You can also add it to water along with a few drops of essential oils to make a wet paste out of it.Pink Gulaal
Use beetroot to make Gulaal of deep shades pink and magenta. Slice up beetroots and boil them in water to make wet colors. You can also dry beetroot pieces under the sun and make dry colors that way.Blue Gulaal
Use Neela Gulmohar to make blue Gulaal. Use dry leaves of this flower and mix them with gram flour to increase the volume. You can also add cornstarch to it.These are a few colors you can make using natural ingredients. Holi is a great opportunity to get creative with colors.
