Here is Why H&M Wants to Rent Out their Clothes
Dec 10, 2019
HM recently came into news as they have decided to introduce rental service for their clothes. The retailer hasn’t launched this service yet but people are really excited for it.
HM is a popular retailer and faced backlash earlier when a United Nations report revealed that fashion industry is the second most responsible contributor to pollution. They decided to make conscious efforts and wanted to tap the cloth-renting market as well. H&M flagship store in Stockholm is the store to start their renting operations from. The terms of this service allows the shoppers to rent clothes for 30 days. After that, shoppers are required to either return the product or purchase it. The terms also include a certain number of clothes that can be rented in a month, only 50 garments a month are allowed per customer.
"We have a huge belief in rental, but we still want to test and learn quite a lot and do tweaks and changes," said Daniel Claesson, on the launch of their rental service. Fast fashion is one of the reasons why tons of microfibers are released in the ocean per year. It not only threatens the quality of water but also makes it difficult for aquatic beings to sustain themselves. This move is not only in the benefit of environment but also benefits the shoppers. You will have enough time to decide if a piece of garment belongs to your wardrobe or not or when you grow weary of a certain garment, it would be a good enough reason to visit the H&M store again!
