Women from around the world are posting pictures of their underwear on social media to protest after a man was acquitted in a rape case in Ireland where the Woman’s “thong” was used as an evidence. Many protests are going on in Ireland after a 27-year-old was found not guilty for allegedly raping a 17-year-old teenager. All of this started when a criminal court ended the case not finding the man guilty of rape in the city of Cork. Check out what happened next:

According to a report defense barrister, Elizabeth O’Connell asked the judges to shed light on the underwear the teenager was wearing at that time. She said: You have to look at the way she was dressed. She was wearing a thong with a lace front,”

This shocking statement left everyone annoyed and even led to an argument in Irish parliament as one of the Irish MPs got the blue lacy thong in-house to highlight “routine victim-blaming”.

Many considered using a thong as evidence was for blaming and slut shaming. They then started posting pictures of their underwear using the #ThisIsNotConsent hashtag.

Some protested on the streets and some women’s chose social media to express their anger.
