Twitter is Loaded with a New Version of Memes on the Pope
Oct 21, 2020
In the past, there have been many memes on Pope Francis, and there is a new one. In this people are using Twitter's tiled image format to make it look like the Pope is holding up various things, ranging from The Lion King’s Simba to Baby Yoda.
People are editing a 2013 photograph of the pope holding a Eucharist wafer while praying in Brazil. The Getty Images website says that the photograph was clicked as Pope Francis celebrated Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady Aparecida
While the photo inspired some memes, this tiled version using four different images is a new one. In the previous versions of the meme, the Eucharist wafer was replaced with circular objects like CDs.Three of the earliest versions were widely shared last week, and the internet was divided over it.

But many were upset by the meme and said that it also hurt religious sentiments
There's a meme circulating with Pope Francis holding up an object with his eyes closed, and people are shopping in various funny objects. In the original photo, the object is a host being consecrated. This means being turned from bread into the actual body and blood of God. 1/
