Why is Scarlett Johansson Suing Disney?

Scarlett Johansson has filed a lawsuit against Disney for breach of contract. Her contract stated that the movie, Black Widow, will be released in theatres but it was also available for the audience on Disney+ in the US and other countries.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

“Disney intentionally induced Marvel’s breach of the agreement, without justification, in order to prevent Ms Johansson from realizing the full benefit of her bargain with Marvel.” stated the lawsuit.

Disney has responded to the lawsuit and the representative said the filing has no merit. It was also said that the lawsuit was sad and distressing.

The movie is yet to be released in India. People in US, UK and a few other countries could watch Black Widow at the price of $30 on Disney +.
