Mother Bird Feeds Cigarette Butt to Chick

Pollution is a global problem these days as plastic waste has the highest potential to harm the environment and wildlife. Recently, a photographer clicked concerning photos of a mother bird feeding a chick a cigarette bud on Florida Beach. This started a huge debate online on the harmful effects of littering.
Millions of people visit Florida beach every year and the photo displays why cigarette butts and filters are harmful.
Karen Mason of Largo recently visited St. Pete Beach when she saw something disturbing. A black skimmer seabird was feeding it's baby a cigarette butt, probably mistaking it for food crumbs.The picture was shared on Facebook and quickly went viral as a lot of people were alarmed by the situation. Karen Mason wrote “ If you smoke, please don’t leave your butts behind” while sharing the photo.

With an appeal #NoButtsForBabies, the photographer shared another close-up shot of the chick holding the cigarette stub in between its beaks.
Many people joined her in the campaign to highlight the fact that cigarette butts contribute as one of the largest pollutants in ocean pollution
