Nepal Sets World Record for Highest Altitude Fashion Show

At times people do strange things that are beyond our imagination. Be it a huge cake weighing 27,000 kgs or spinning a basketball on a toothbrush, people have done everything to make it to the Guinness World Record. Now Nepal has set another new Guinness World Record for holding the “highest altitude fashion show” ever.
In order to create awareness about climate change and to promote sustainable fashion, Nepal Tourism Board hosted the first “Mount Everest Fashion Runway’ at 5,340 meters (1, 7515 ft.) elevation” with support of various sponsors.

The fashion show was a part of the ‘Visit Nepal Year 2020’ campaign and was organized at Kala Patthar (a UNESCO world heritage site) near the Everest base camp.
A press release issued by Nepal Tourism Board states, “The designs, patterns and the materials used during the Fashion show were all-natural, organic and all Nepali product line from KASA. The clothing line was made of Nepali Pashmina, Felt and Yak Wool,
Models from across the globe participated in the show in large numbers. Miss Universe Sri Lanka 2018, Ornella Gunesekere was also a part of the fashion show. Reportedly, the model trekked for 14 days to reach the highest altitude ramp in the world.
