McDonalds '10 Years Old Burger and Fries Still Look Fresh

10 years ago a fast-food lover bought a McDonald’s meal and kept it in a glass cabinet and it doesn’t look like its aged even a bit. Hjortur Smarason was broken when McDonald’s closed all three of its restaurants in Iceland in 2009 so he decided to buy the icy nation's final hamburger and fries – so the meal could live on after the chain's closure.

In order to test the theory of a McDonald’s meal never aging, Mr. Smarason kept the food as a home experiment. This week it completed 10 years and it still looks pretty fresh and tasty

A live video of burger and fries shows there are no signs of mold or decay on the food. The hostel says that people visit from around the world to see the burger.

And it claims that the livestream website receives up to 400,000 hits every single day.

Mr. Smarason said: 'I had heard that McDonald's never decompose so I just wanted to see if it was true or not,”.

The meal is now kept in a glass cabinet in Snotra House, a hostel in southern Iceland.Before handing it over to the National Museum of Iceland, he kept the fast food in a plastic bag in his garage for three years. Then the Museum decided that they weren’t equipped to preserve the food which is when they returned it to its original owner.
