Chinese Tourist Sites are Packed!

Apr 08, 2020

While other countries struggle to fight the deadly coronavirus, China the epicenter of the pandemic is slowly getting back to normal life. Restrictions are being lifted, airports have started operating and various tourist attractions have also opened their gates for public.

Since people could finally step out of their houses after nearly two months of quarantine, the Huangshan Mountain in East China’s Anhui Province was flooded with visitors over the weekend.

After exempting the entry fee, the natural site exceeded the daily limit of 20,000 visitors. Hence, the unexpected surge of tourists forced the Chinese authorities to shut down the trail until further notice.

Talking about local media houses, the authorities asked citizens to remain vigilant as the virus hasn’t been eradicated completely.

Some visuals on social media sites have shown people breaking the social distancing norms that are important to avoid the spread of the virus. Some were also seen without masks.

Other public places such as Bund Waterfront in Shanghai and other parks and cafes in Beijing also saw a huge footfall. The large number of people coming out on streets has alerted the authorities who are requesting people to look for ways to avoid overcrowding in public places.
